Early Access, Coupon, and FAQ

Las Vegas, NV – November 24, 2014  – We know everyone has been waiting for information for a while now, so here are the finer points in summary with an expanded explanation attached below:

  • Primal Carnage: Extinction will be entering Early Access on Steam on December 3rd, 2014
  • Buyers of the original Primal Carnage (before November 20th) will receive an 85% discount on Extinction’s $20 ($3) launch price.
  • DLC from the original Primal Carnage will transfer to Extinction
  • We’ve opened our development roadmap on Trello so that the community can observe development and provide input on what they would like to see in game. The board can be found here.

Why Primal Carnage: Extinction?

A huge motivating factor in breaking compatibility with content from the original Primal Carnage was creating a game which lowered barriers to entry for new players and allowed developers to add new content to the game easily over time. Extinction was designed with a stronger foundation for ongoing content development than the original Primal Carnage. We’re aiming for transparent development and opening our internal development boards on Trello to our community so that fans can provide input on which content they would like to see added to the game and watch as content evolves over time and is prepared for release.
Why Is Primal Carnage: Extinction Not Free?

Circle 5 and Pub Games originally planned to deliver Primal Carnage: Extinction as a free gift to everyone who purchased the original Primal Carnage as a way to satisfy Lukewarm’s statements that this would be a free update. Ultimately Extinction increased dramatically in scope and at this point the project is far over budget. We can’t survive and pay our staff without charging something for Extinction. Customers who purchased the original Primal Carnage before November 20th, 2014, will receive a coupon for 85% off of Extinction’s $20 launch price which will bring the cost of Extinction to $3 for customers who bought the original Primal Carnage. While we do apologize that we couldn’t release this game for free, we’ve made a decision that better supports our ability to deliver ongoing content to the game and in turn delivers more to our community in the long term. A lot of people have devoted a lot of time to building this game, and we fully stand by its value.

When is the Beta? When is Release? Early Access?

We decided to extend core development on Extinction during the final phase of our development for PS4 while offering Early Access on Steam. We want to give our fans a chance to experience Extinction and play a role is shaping the final product before the full release. We plan to spend roughly 45 to 60 days in Early Access on Steam during the last leg of core multiplatform development pushing updates roughly every 15 days. We will release on Early Access Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014.

What About My Primal Carnage DLC?

All DLC from the original Primal Carnage will be awarded to players who purchased it upon starting up Extinction for the first time. These items will be awarded as tradeable economy items with a special quality status.

How do I get the Volcano Spino?

Everyone who purchases the game during the Early Access period will receive the Volcano Spino Skin. Note: to claim the Volcano Spino skin, the game will need to be launched at least once during the early access period.
